El Grid

An original documentary project about what the Caribbean is doing for energy resilience.

El Grid, in development: a Caribbean bay at sunset with wave energy devices and a solar-powered home Back the film

An international story, told through the eyes of the Caribbean.

Aging grids and rising fuel costs are problems the whole world faces. Across the Caribbean, an additional set of factors affects them particularly, and every island is looking at solutions to its rising energy insecurity in a new way.

El Grid follows what the region is doing to not just keep the lights on, but get ready for the energy consumption of the future. We tell the story from Puerto Rico while visiting neighboring countries to see how innovators are looking forward.

While many have been looking for who to blame for the problem we're in, El Grid follows the innovators who will end it.

Help us reach a rough cut.

Multiple distributors are interested in El Grid, but no one has fully commissioned the film yet. They want to see a rough cut first, the first full version of the film.

So we're funding the rough cut ourselves, and we're looking for people to help us get there. Your backing goes toward filming and editing.

Gifts are our thank-you, and they're optional. If you'd rather put everything toward the film, choose no gift.
